Dispatch No. 8 - Studio Notes

This Dispatch takes a new shape—more studio journal than essay. Notes on building a connected content ecosystem, a book that landed at the right time, and one dark-pattern detour through Amazon.

I’m trying something a little different this week...

Until now, each Dispatch centered on a theme (Wayfinding, Reframing, Tools v Craft, etc.) and that started to feel a bit rigid. I'd like for Dispatch to work more like a studio journal: a place to track what I’m building, learning, and noticing in a way that connects with you too.

Some weeks will come together neatly; others might feel scattered. And that's the spirit of Mosaic. Onward!

Studio notes

This week I’ve been mapping my content ecosystem. Connecting the pieces instead of treating each platform like a separate project. Ghost is home base: it holds my case studies, frameworks, and this newsletter. Substack is where I can write more freely, in my own voice, and beyond UX. LinkedIn’s where I’ll still post the occasional article, mostly to stay on the radar of prospective clients.

These shifts will tie into an upcoming post about how I’m approaching content strategy and positioning—constructing a balance between necessity and possibility.

Client-wise, I’m kicking off Outbound October. September brought a handful of good inbound leads, but I want to be more deliberate about pursuing projects where there’s both shared passion and a clear match between their goals and my strengths.

Elsewhere

I'm still on a reading tear, and The Crossroads of Should and Must hit at just the right time. Elle Luna’s visual storytelling brings rare warmth and immediacy to the question of what we’re really meant to be doing.

I also published a new piece on Amazon’s “Add to Delivery” design and what it reveals about everyday dark patterns. Worth a look if you’ve ever found yourself second-guessing an app’s intentions.

Soundtrack

Murder on the Dancefloor — reliving Saltburn’s final scene, and still trying to forget a few scenes in the middle.

Thanks for reading. See you next week.
